Last year we visited Costa Rica for the first time and decided to check out the Andaz Papagayo which is known as an amazing sweet spot in the Hyatt awards redemption chart. Andaz is situated some 30 min away from Liberia, the closest large city in the northwest of Costa Rica. There are many direct flights flying to into Liberia from all part of the USA, but for this trip we were flying on Alaska’s direct flight from LAX.
Booking Alaska Flights to Liberia from LAX
Alaska Airlines has a daily direct flight to Liberia, Costa Rica from Los Angeles, LAX. Liberia is situated in the north west part of Costa Rica and is only a short 30 min drive to the beach. For this trip we used the Alaska Companion Pass where you basically get to fly two people for the price of one (or a flat $99 plus taxes for the second person depending on the card you signed up for). This comes in handy especially around the holidays and any long weekends when the flights tend to be pretty expensive but your schedule may not allow much flexibility. You can get the Alaska companion pass by signing up for the Alaska Airlines Visa credit card. Since you can use it for a one way flight AS WELL as a roundtrip flight, it saved us over $500 on this trip so that was pretty amazing.
